Activity details

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has engaged Supply Nation-certified First Nations consultants to develop a pioneering Cultural Safety Framework. This framework is a first for Australian policing and aims to drive substantial, transformational change. It aligns with key strategic objectives, including the National Agreement on Closing the Gap (Priority Reform Three), the QPS Reframing the Relationship Plan 2024-2027, the Department of Justice and the Attorney-General's Better Justice Together Plan, the Disability Royal Commission Recommendation 9.3 and the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032. This initiative is designed to create a culturally safe environment that benefits not only First Nations peoples but all Queenslanders. The framework also seeks to address the diverse needs of all communities, promoting safety and inclusion for everyone. By applying an intersectional approach, QPS is addressing how culture, disability, race, and gender influence the safety and inclusion of all individuals, fostering transformational change towards a more inclusive and equitable policing service.
