$0.25 million to create accessible guides for family, domestic, and sexual violence practitioners to support women and girls with disability in Australia.
Implementation progress update
In September 2024, the Department of Social Services, in partnership with Icon Agency, developed a series of accessible practice guides for family, domestic and sexual violence practitioners. These guides are designed to support practitioners—those working with individuals impacted by or using violence—to better respond to and support women and girls with disability who may be at risk of or experiencing violence.
The guides aim to:
- Improve practitioner understanding of the unique experiences and barriers faced by women and girls with disability in the context of FDSV.
- Strengthen inclusive and trauma-informed service responses.
- Promote safe, respectful and accessible engagement with people with disability. The resources have been distributed to targeted stakeholders across the sector and are available upon request.
