Activity details

Continue the ACT Domestic Violence Death Review to report biannually.

Implementation progress update

On 31 October 2023, the ACT Death Review provided its first report, which is released every second year, to the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence. The report was tabled in the Legislative Assembly in February 2024. The 2024-25 ACT Budget included a $375,000 coercive control package, currently being implemented which addresses some of the key findings and recommendations of the Death Review report.

This initiative plays a vital role in preventing future deaths by examining domestic and family violence related fatalities and identifying patterns to inform systemic improvements. A total of $297,000 over 4 years from 2025-26 has been allocated to continue the ACT Family Violence Death Review. The second biennial report of the ACT Domestic and Family Violence Review (Death Review) continued to be progressed throughout 2024-25 and is due to the Minister for the ACT Prevention of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence in late 2025.

Further information on the ACT Death Review is available at Domestic and Family Violence Review Biennial Report 2023.
