Activity details
The Consent and Respectful Relationships Education (CRRE) measure provides funding of $83.5 million over 6 years from 2022–23 to invest in high quality, evidence-based, age-appropriate, expert developed consent and respectful relationships education (RRE) in Australian primary and secondary schools. Of this, $77.6 million over 5 years from mid-2024 is being provided to states, territories and the non-government school sectors to support their delivery of RRE.
Implementation progress update
All state and territory Education Ministers have signed the $77.6 million CRRE Federation Funding Agreement (FFA) Schedule. This is available at Consent and Respectful Relationships Education - Federation Funding Agreement.
Each state, territory and non-government school sector has commenced the implementation of CRRE activities in accordance with the FFA Schedule. As of May 2025, $40.8 million has been distributed across all states, territories and non-government school representative bodies. These funds are being used to conduct a range of activities, including employing specialist staff with expertise in RRE, developing resources and delivering professional development activities.
Funding of $5.9 million has been allocated to support delivery of the CRRE measure through a National Respectful Relationships Education Expert Working Group, rapid review on current approaches and RRE Framework, as well as an evaluation of CCRE the measure.
The RRE Framework is expected to be completed in 2025 and will support RRE decision-makers at all levels of the school system (individual schools, state and territory government education departments, non-government bodies and otherwise) to select, develop and apply high-quality and evidence-based RRE.
