Activity details
The Adolescent Family Violence in the Home (AFVITH) program provides integrated early intervention and trauma-informed responses for young people aged 12 to 17 who use family violence in the home. This service response is informed by the Model of Care for AFVITH, which outlines an evidence-informed, end-to-end user journey to support early intervention for young people using violence in the home.
This activity was part of a broader activity through the 2023–24 State Budget, continue to embed and build evidence in responding to young people who use violence in the home.
Implementation progress update
The AFVITH program has been delivered statewide in Victoria since 1 January 2023. It is delivered by 9 lead service providers to support over 1,000 young people and their families each year.
In 2023-24, Ernst & Young conducted an independent evaluation of the AFVITH program and AFVITH Model of Care to assess ongoing delivery of the program. This involved consultation with all funded AFVITH providers. This included 4 out of 5 of the Aboriginal service providers funded to deliver AFVITH. The evaluation was completed in November 2024.
The evaluation will assist to strengthen AFVITH program guidance and the AFVITH Model of Care for young people using family violence in the home and their families.
Ongoing funding for the AFVITH program was provided in the 2025-26 Victorian State Budget.
