Young Carers Forum: Bring It 2008 Report

The Young Carers Forum was held in Parliament House in November 2008. The two day event was hosted by Carers Australia with the support of the Commonwealth Government, and provided young carers, key stakeholders, academics and government representatives an opportunity to contribute to the development of young carers policy.

Panels and workshops were based on four key topic areas identified by young carers as being critical to their health and well-being: Education, Respite, Identification and Government Services.

Dr Saul Becker, a prominent academic from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom was the keynote speaker. His presentation, Global perspectives on young carers: Findings and messages from research provided Forum participants with a comparison of young carers globally. Dr Becker’s presentation is available on the Carers Australia website.
