These resources explain simple ways to work better with communities. They help government:

  • Listen to communities
  • Make decisions together
  • Design solutions together
  • Be clear about who does what.

This helps build strong partnerships.

The resources also help different parts of government work together. They build skills across the Australian Public Service (APS). They support national work like the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and Australia’s wellbeing framework, Measuring What Matters.

They also support new and flexible ways of working. For example, they encourage sharing resources and using contracts that support local ideas.

The resources are in three areas:

  • Working with communities
  • Using data and evidence
  • Partnering in different ways.

We worked with the Treasury to create these resources. We also spoke with:

  • state and territory government representatives
  • the Australian Government
  • Philanthropic Organisations
  • non-government organisations (NGOs).
