Disability Royal Commission consultation report now live
The department has released a report summarising its recent consultations on the Disability Royal Commission’s final report and recommendations.
After four and a half years of inquiry, the Disability Royal Commission released its final report on 29 September 2023, and the Australian Government is carefully considering its 222 recommendations.
To inform its response to these recommendations, the Australian Government invited feedback through a recent public consultation process.
A report summarising the consultations is now available to view on the department’s website.
The consultation was open to everyone, with feedback particularly encouraged from people with disability, their families, carers, representative organisations, service providers, and unions.
Individuals and organisations provided their views through an online questionnaire about which recommendations they considered to be most important, and/or by providing a written submission.
Consultation was open from 28 November to 19 January.
The consultation received 118 submissions and 335 questionnaire responses, with the top 5 supported recommendations being related to the following themes:
In addition to this consultation, the Australian Government has continued to undertake a range of targeted consultations around particular themes and recommendations in the final report to inform its considerations.
The Government will formally respond to the Disability Royal Commission Final Report by mid-2024.
