Activity details

Maintain existing funding base for critical family violence service provision, including funding programs under the Third and Fourth Action Plans (3AP/4AP) under the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022, with potential for monitoring and reporting frameworks co-designed with community. Funding for activities under the 3AP/4AP has been extended for 18 months (until 31 December 2026) to provide culturally appropriate and healing-informed services ensuring the safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children.

Implementation progress update

The Australian Government has extended funding for 20 culturally-appropriate, trauma-informed, place-based family violence services. These services were funded under the previous National Plan and will now run until 31 December 2026. The government has also funded a research activity, to gather evidence on the delivery of prevention and early intervention services, and find out what the family, domestic and sexual violence sector needs to address violence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This research commenced in early 2025. It will be used to improve the design of future programs.
