Activity details
South Australia's Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation peak, the South Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation Network (SAACCON) worked in partnership with the Attorney-General's Department to undertake scoping and co-design of a service model to support female Aboriginal victims of crime in South Australia.
Implementation progress update
In recognition of the high rates of trauma and victimisation of Aboriginal women in the criminal justice system, in 2023 South Australia’s Advisory Commission into the Incarceration Rates of Aboriginal Peoples recommended that a victims of crime service specifically for Aboriginal women be established.
The Attorney-General's Department has partnered with and funded SAACCON to scope and co-design a new support service for Aboriginal women who have been the victim of crime.
