Implementation progress update
The Australian government has provided $1.1 million to develop a Justice Sector Strengthening Plan. It will build and strengthen the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled law and justice sector and increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities’ access to high quality and culturally intelligent services. It is being developed by the Justice Policy Partnership. It will focus on four key areas including workforce development, governance structures, capital infrastructure and service provision. The Justice Sector Strengthening Plan is being developed in partnership with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service.
