Activity details
The program centres on working with young people and community stakeholders to co-design and implement place-based community action plans to prevent youth sexual violence and abuse (YSVA).
To be informed by significant community input, local action plans will be developed for the regional Queensland communities of Toowoomba, Bundaberg and Yarrabah.
The community action plans target young people aged 12 to 25 years and aim to:
- increase awareness and understanding about safe and healthy relationships
- strengthen personal and online safety
- contribute to a reduction in YSVA
- enhance local service capacity to prevent, identify and respond to YSVA.
Implementation progress update
In partnership with Yarrabah community leaders, local governance arrangements have been developed and initial community engagement, recruitment and planning work has been done for the Yarrabah Positive and Respectful Relationships Project – a community-led YSVA prevention project.
