Activity details

The program aims to establish Men’s Wellness Centres in suitable locations across Australia. Funded initiatives are led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations. The activities complement and support existing services, to enable improved service delivery.

It includes activities such as prosocial early support, cultural healing. Activities also include education on respectful relationships, healthy parenting, mentoring, living skills, and alcohol and other drugs. This supports an understanding of diverse experiences of abuse, such as technology facilitated abuse and coercive control.

Implementation progress update

The Australian Government is investing $41.4 million over 3 years from 2024-25 to support 13 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled and Indigenous-led organisations in regional and remote locations to provide spaces for male domestic violence programs and activities. These include prosocial interventions, cultural healing, education on respectful relationships, healthy parenting, mentoring, and addressing diverse experiences of abuse such as technology-facilitated abuse and coercive control.

These activities are designed to:

  • provide culturally safe spaces for men
  • support healing and recovery
  • promote respectful relationships and healthy parenting
  • address coercive control and technology-facilitated abuse
  • foster mentoring and community leadership.

The program is being delivered across the following regions and states:
