Established the Leaving Violence Program Regional Trials delivery model in Cairns, Broome, Darwin and Dubbo. The Trials commenced service delivery on 1 July 2025. The Regional Trials complement the national program delivery model, and focus on providing choice of services to victim-survivors in each of the locations, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim-survivors.

Implementation progress update

In February 2023, a place-based trial of the Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) commenced to deliver the service in a culturally focused way to victim-survivors in the Cairns region, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim-survivors. The EVP place-based trial (now known as the Leaving Violence Program Regional Trial) in Cairns, Queensland, supported 731 victim-survivors and provided over $3.6 million in financial assistance packages from February 2023 to 30 June 2025. The Leaving Violence Program Regional Trials in Cairns commenced in February 2023 and was extended to June 2026. For more information see www.raatsic.org.au/leaving-violence-program.
