Activity details
Promote trauma-informed and culturally safe response models to minimise re-traumatisation of victim-survivors of sexual violence, including technology-facilitated sexual violence, through the criminal justice system and increase how often victim survivors feel they have been believed and treated with sensitivity and empathy.
Implementation progress update
The Integrated Trauma Informed Care (ITIC) Framework (the Framework) provides guidance and overarching principles to support NSW Health to provide strengths-based, trauma-informed care in a safe and supportive environment. The Framework recognises cultural safety as a key element of trauma-informed care. Victim-survivors of sexual violence going through the criminal justice system often need to access public health services, and the Framework will help to minimise re-traumatisation and increase the likelihood victim survivors will feel believed and be treated with sensitivity and empathy. A plan to support implementation of the Framework is being developed.
