Activity details
Through the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum and its Koori Caucus, Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal services are working alongside relevant Victorian Government representatives to influence family violence reforms, funding decisions and policy development by providing a strong and informed voice, cultural perspective, and strategic policy advice based on self-determination.
Implementation progress update
Dhelk Dja Partnership Forums are held 3 times per year and hosted by Dhelk Dja Action Groups across Victoria.
The Dhelk Dja governance system includes the Dhelk Dja Koori Caucus which is made up of Aboriginal statewide family violence services and the Chairpersons of the Dhelk Dja Action Groups. It also includes 11 Dhelk Dja Action Groups which are made up of Aboriginal community members.
The Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum leads the development of Dhelk Dja Action Plans, commencing with the first Action Plan (2019-2022), with the Dhelk Dja 3 Year Action Plan 2023-2025 currently in effect. The Forum also oversees and coordinates the strategic implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Dhelk Dja and its Action Plans to drive improved safety outcomes for Aboriginal people in Victoria.
