Activity details

The NSW Government is supporting the development of Men’s Behaviour Change Programs (MBCPs) to meet the specific needs of perpetrators from diverse backgrounds including addressing the specific needs of First Nation communities. Activities include:

  • testing, piloting and adapting innovative MBCPs including group programs
  • 1:1 sessions and victim-survivor safety supports
  • adapting MBCP manuals, policies, procedures, practice guidelines and resources with specific strategies for First Nations community
  • registering an innovative program that provides individual and groupwork program delivery that will enhance the safety of First Nations men and women, and their children.

The MBCP Development grants project supports the development of MBCPs in line with the NSW Government Practice Standards for MBCPs to support the specific needs of First Nation communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, multicultural communities, and people living with cognitive impairment. Implementation progress update

Two Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) were initiallty funded to develop MBCPs. One ACCO withdrew from the project. One ACCO has received further funding to run a pilot and register a program that meets the NSW Government MBCP Practice Standards for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
