Activity details
Maintain existing funding base to the Family Violence Prevention Legal Services, which provides culturally safe legal and critical non-legal wrap around services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, predominantly women and children, experiencing family, domestic and sexual violence.
Implementation progress update
The Australian Government continues to fund the Family Violence Prevention and Legal Services (FVPLS), to provide culturally safe legal and wrap around services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children escaping violence. FVPLS funding transitioned to the National Access to Justice Partnership 2025-2030 (NAJP) from 1 July 2025. Under the NAJP, FVPLS will receive $366.8 million nationally in quarantined funding over 5 years to provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children escaping violence. To provide long-term funding certainty to the sector, the Government has provided ongoing funding beyond the 5-year NAJP.
