Establish a First Nations Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) National Peak Body. The National Peak Body will provide governance across the sector at a national level, working with state and territory counterparts including advisory bodies and other peak organisations to champion the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities affected by FDSV.
Implementation progress update
The Australian Government has engaged the Coalition of Peaks to establish a National Peak Body to lead collaboration and consultation with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family, domestic and sexual violence sector, driving policy and systems reform towards the elimination of family, domestic and sexual violence affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The National Peak Body will provide a critical role in working with government to oversee the implementation of Our Ways, including co-chairing and providing secretariat support to the governance bodies, lead shared decision-making between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the Commonwealth and state and territory governments.
