Activity details
Extend the First Nations Family Dispute Resolution pilot by 2 years from 2024–25 to allow a further period to deliver culturally safe and appropriate family dispute resolution services to First Nations peoples.
Implementation progress update
The Australian Government has extended a pilot program to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people access culturally safe family dispute resolution (FDR) services until 30 June 2026. Eight organisations are continuing to provide these services to their local communities. They have faced some challenges in establishing and providing continuous service, including building corporate governance capability and recruitment and retention of appropriately qualified staff.
In the 2024-25 financial year, 619 individual clients received services from First Nations FDR providers. For information on Family Dispute Resolution see Family Dispute Resolution. For more information about the First Nations FDR providers, including the organisations' locations, see Find a family dispute resolution practitioner.
