Strengthening the evidence base of effective supports for Aboriginal people and communities to prevent, respond to and heal from family violence.
Implementation progress update
The Dhelk Dja Action Group Regional Data Reports provide periodic data, trends and analysis to support the local and regional family violence data needs for the 11 Dhelk Dja Action Groups.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, the Victorian Government has collaboratively worked with Dhelk Dja Action Group Chairpersons to better understand their data needs. This has resulted in the development of 11 reports intended to support Action Groups with operational insights into the delivery of family violence services in their local area. The reports draw from a range of data sources including:
- The Orange Door Client Relationship Management system
- Victoria Police via the Crime Statistics Agency
- Specialist Family Violence Services via the Homelessness Data Collection.
Data related to Aboriginal people is presented across a range of variables including:
- family violence incidents attended by Victoria Police (L17s)
- number of Orange Door cases
- number of clients who access mainstream or ACCO services
- breaches of family violence intervention orders involving an Aboriginal affected family member (AFM).
The Regional Data Reports assist Action Groups in the development of their Regional Action Plans. These plans identify the local priorities and actions aimed at preventing, responding to and reducing family violence in Aboriginal communities across Victoria.
The Victorian Government will continue to work with the Action Groups and the broader Koori Caucus to increase access to data to support their work.
