Supporting delivery of culturally and evidence-informed prevention initiatives.

Implementation progress update

The Victorian Government is utilising multiple levers to support delivery of culturally and evidence-informed prevention initiatives.

The Victorian Government is currently working with Dhelk Dja Koori Caucus to refresh the Indigenous Family Violence Primary Prevention Framework, which was originally released in 2012. The refreshed Framework will be titled the Dhelk Dja Family Violence Prevention Framework and will provide an overarching framework for guiding, promoting and celebrating community-led efforts to prevent family violence against Aboriginal people. It is expected to be completed in 2025 with an implementation approach to be agreed with the Dhelk Dja Koori Caucus after it is finished.

The annual $1.1 million Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) supports Aboriginal community-led projects that educate, prevent, reduce and respond to family violence in Aboriginal communities across Victoria. In the last 10 years more than 400 projects have been funded through the CIF.
