Activity details
Continue to deliver training in domestic and family violence risk assessment and management to workers across the specialist, universal, and statutory service sectors.
Implementation progress update
Between 2021 to 2024, the Department of Children and Families’s (DCF) Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Prevention division (DFSVP) partnered with the Northern Territory Council of Social Service (NTCOSS) to coordinate the logistical delivery of domestic and family violence (DFV) risk assessment and management training. When the agreement ended on 30 June 2024, DFSVP commenced training delivery, as well as increasing the pool of qualified trainers available.
Between September 2024 to June 2025, DFSVP have strengthened the training model and:
- recruited and trained 21 new RAMF trainers (employed in government, non-government and Aboriginal community controlled organisations) across the Northern Territory
- delivered 43 RAMF workshops in 6 locations, training a total of 749 participants
- received positive participant feedback, with 91 to 99% of surveyed participants reporting meeting learning objectives.
RAMF training has also supported relevant Northern Territory Government agencies to implement RAMF within their programs and services to improve government responses to DFV.
Following its launch in 2021, over 2,810 workers have been trained in RAMF, and over 160 workshops have been delivered across the Northern Territory, including in Alice Springs, Darwin, Galiwin’ku, Katherine, Mutitjulu, Nhulunbuy, Palmerston, Tennant Creek, Ti Tree and Wadeye. DCF is also working with the Prevent Assist Respond training consortium, led by Tangentyere Corporation Aboriginal Council, to develop online modules aimed at frontline workers to build an understanding of the dynamics of DFV, with 6 available online.
