Activity details

Build on existing commitments toward developing nationally consistent data from existing administrative information sources on violence experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This activity is part of a broader activity investing $15 million from 2025-26 to 2027-28 in a First Nations-led data project which will enable measurement of progress against Target 13. For more information see activities 'Evidence base', 'Research projects' and 'Evidence'.

Implementation progress update

$15 million (from 2025-26 to 2027-28) is being invested in a First Nations-led data project which will enable measurement of progress against Target 13. This funding will develop a national dataset that shows a clear picture of domestic and family violence for First Nations women and children, taking into account community differences through culturally sensitive data collection. The research will be led by First Nations peoples to ensure it is culturally informed and reflects their experiences and expertise.

The Department is working to finalise the scope of the project and implementation approach.
