Activity details
The Department for Child Protection (DCP) is co-creating an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) Procurement and Investment Strategy with the South Australian ACCO child and family sector to support the long-term agenda for the investment and transition of a greater proportion of funding to ACCOs. The future state envisioned is one where a broad range of ACCOs provide holistic services and supports to their communities, including but not limited to child and family support services and domestic and family violence services.
Implementation progress update
During 2024-25, DCP has worked with the South Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation Network to support engagement with the sector to understand current barriers and challenges experienced by ACCOs, future aspirations for working with DCP, and where DCP can support further participation through our procurement mechanisms. In addition to the ACCO Procurement and Investment Strategy, DCP has progressed towards further delivery of ACCO-led services within the Family Group Conferencing program. DCP is working to expand the program and engage additional ACCOs via a limited procurement process.
To improve internal capability of tracking spend, in 2024-25 DCP undertook a comprehensive review and developed a new improved reporting process to identify and report on ACCO and Aboriginal Business spend. This improvement provides more reliable tracking for DCP investment growth and builds internal capacity to identify new ACCOs and Aboriginal Businesses DCP engages with into the future.
