Housing

State and territory government housing sites

The Commonwealth Government is providing the states and territories with $115 million each year, for two years, under the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness; $1.3 billion each year under the National Affordable Housing Agreement, of which $260 million is nominally allocated to homelessness services. It is also providing around $4.2 billion in Commonwealth Rent Assistance, for some 1.3 million individuals and families. Although significant funding is provided by the Commonwealth, the primary responsibility for housing assistance, including public housing, rests with state and territory governments.

Information on housing assistance provided by housing authorities in each state and territory can be accessed via the websites or telephone numbers below. Please note that calls made from mobile phones may incur additional costs.
