Carer Payment and Carer Allowance Field Test Now Complete
During 2017 and 2018, the Department of Social Services conducted a Field Test of an improved assessment process for Carer Payment and Carer Allowance.
The improved assessment process aims to make the process of applying for these payments more streamlined and easier for both carers and health professionals.
The Field Test closed on 1 January 2019 and the Department is considering the findings.
What was the Field Test?
The Field Test aimed to develop an assessment process that better reflects the care a carer personally provides to the person they care for. It tested a range of questions in order to ensure the assessment is reliable and accurately describes the care a carer provides.
The Field Test also sought feedback from carers and health professionals on the new process. This gave individuals the opportunity to comment on the questions and whether they accurately capture all areas of care that a carer provides.
Following the closure of the Field Test, the Department’s Field Test team is working to review the data and feedback provided.
