Community Services Advisory Group meeting 16 June 2026 – Communique

The meeting continued the group’s focus on informing the design and implementation of community services sector reforms that improve outcomes for vulnerable Australians.

Key items discussed include:

• monitoring of demand for Emergency Relief, including emerging trends in service delivery.
• AusAlert, a new national emergency warning system, and the Disaster Ready Fund, the Australian Government’s main initiative for disaster resilience and risk reduction.
• key opportunities for reform including the use of relational contracting approaches to support longer‑term partnerships with a greater focus on outcomes.
• opportunities to bring together cross‑government and sector work to advance Closing the Gap Priority Reform 2 – Building the community‑controlled sector.
• consultation on Action Plans under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children, highlighting the importance of early and meaningful sector engagement.
