Community Services Advisory Group meeting 16 June 2026 – Communique
The Community Services Advisory Group met on 16 June 2026 for its second meeting of the year.
The meeting continued the group’s focus on informing the design and implementation of community services sector reforms that improve outcomes for vulnerable Australians.
Key items discussed include:
- monitoring of demand for Emergency Relief, including emerging trends in service delivery.
- AusAlert, a new national emergency warning system, and the Disaster Ready Fund, the Australian Government’s main initiative for disaster resilience and risk reduction.
- key opportunities for reform including the use of relational contracting approaches to support longer‑term partnerships with a greater focus on outcomes.
- opportunities to bring together cross‑government and sector work to advance Closing the Gap Priority Reform 2 – Building the community‑controlled sector.
- consultation on Action Plans under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children, highlighting the importance of early and meaningful sector engagement.
I thank members for their leadership and constructive contributions to strengthening the community services sector. I look forward to our next meeting on 22 September 2026.
