Australian Government response to the Inquiry into homelessness in Australia Final Report

The Australian Government welcomes the Final Report of the Inquiry into homelessness in Australia, and thanks the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs for its work. The Government also acknowledges the Interim Report, Shelter in the storm – COVID-19 and homelessness.

The Government supports 18 of the 35 Final Report recommendations in full or in principle. The Government recognises homelessness is an important issue that affects many Australians. Effectively addressing homelessness requires long-term and systematic effort across governments and the community. The Government is committed to supporting states and territories to deliver services for Australians living in insecure housing or experiencing homelessness.
