On 2 December 2022, the Australian Government tabled its response to a report by the Senate Select Committee on Autism on the services, support and life outcomes for autistic people.

The Government is committed to improving the lives of all people with disability, including autistic people.

The 2022-23 October Budget announced the Better Support for People with Disability package. The package includes $5.3 million to support development of a National Autism Strategy.

The Department of Social Services will lead development of the National Autism Stragegy. It will be informed by the experiences of autistic people and their families and carers.
