State and Territory Partnership Trials

In total, the Government has committed $22.3 million over ten years from 2017-18 to 2026-27 to partner with states and territory governments on social impact investments (SII). The aims of the State and Territory Partnership Trials are to:

  • increase the Government’s understanding of the benefits and disadvantages of funding SII initiatives
  • increase the Government’s experience developing and managing SII contracts by leveraging States’ experience
  • increase data sharing between the department and States
  • increase the Government’s understanding of savings that may be realised by SII projects at different levels of government.

Partnerships with state and territory governments are established under the Project Agreement for Commonwealth and State and Territory Social Impact Investments with attached bilateral schedules for each SII project, which will detail the agreed cohort, outcomes and payments and other details of the partnership.
