Harmony Day

21 March 2014

Harmony Day 21 March is held each year to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. This important day, celebrates cultural diversity and respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.

It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. It also coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The continuing message that ‘Everyone Belongs’ encourages people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for everyone.

This year we are celebrating 15 years of Harmony Day, and we want to:

  • Thank everyone that has contributed to the 60,000 events held since 1999.
  • Look ahead to our shared multicultural future in one of the most prosperous and harmonious nations in the world, Australia.
