Volunteering is one of the ways you can help refugees recently arrived in Australia to build their new lives and feel at home.
Help them settle
You could show people around the local area, hold English practice groups or help children with activities such as homework. Contact a Humanitarian Settlement Services (HSS) provider in your area to find out how you can help. HSS providers deliver early, practical support for refugees and humanitarian entrants during their first year in Australia.
You can become a trained volunteer with the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) Home Tutor Scheme. Go to the AMEP website for more information.
You can also register your interest to volunteer for programs that support and assist refugees once they arrive by going to the GoVolunteer website.
