Australian Government Response to Revisiting Recognition: Report on the Roundtable with Australian South Sea Islanders

The Australian Government response to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs’ Report Revisiting Recognition: Report on the Roundtable with Australian South Sea Islanders was tabled on 22 March 2017. View the Committee report.

The Government accepts the Committee's recommendation. DSS will utilise the Senior Officials Settlement Outcomes Group (SOSOG) to work across all tiers of Government to improve outcomes for Australian South Sea Islanders. As part of the Government response Australian South Sea Islanders have been reinstated as a specific target group identified under the Multicultural Access and Equity Policy.

The tabled Government response constitutes the first formal update on progress. The next update to Government will be provided in 2019.
