The Australian Government is delivering on its commitment to getting the NDIS back on track and rebuilding trust with participants, their families and carers.
This Budget commits a total of approximately $910 million over five years to improve the effectiveness and delivery of the NDIS for people with disability.
$429.5 million
$429.5 million investment in the National Disability Insurance Agency’s (NDIA’s) capability and systems, to improve processes and planning decisions.
$63.8 million
$63.8 million to take a lifetime approach to ensure plans are more transparent and flexible for life events.
$7.6 million
$7.6 million to partner with communities to improve access to services in remote and First Nations communities.
$48.3 million
$48.3 million investment to crackdown on fraud and non-compliance in the scheme, ensuring every dollar of the NDIS is going to support people with a disability.
$73.4 million
$73.4 million to better support participants to manage their plan within budget, including assistance from NDIA during the year and holding plan managers, support coordinators and providers to account.
$56.4 million
$56.4 million to strengthen supported independent living decisions.
$29.3 million
$29.3 million to support the quality and effectiveness of services provided to participants, through improving oversight of services and increasing take up of evidence-based supports.
$142.6 million
$142.6 million to support the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission in carrying out its role of safeguarding NDIS participants.
$7.3 million
$7.3 million to support the Government’s commitment to ensuring no people under the age of 65 years are living in residential aged care by 1 January 2025, except in exceptional circumstances.
$24.6 million
$24.6 million to work with participants and providers to trial blended payment models, to increase incentives for providers to innovate service delivery and improve outcomes.
$14.1 million
$14.1 million has been allocated to deliver a COVID-19 Leave Grant to support eligible disability workers who provide close personal support to NDIS participants and contract COVID-19. This grant will support workers who do not have leave entitlements available to them, minimising the risk of transmission to the most vulnerable members of our community.
$13 million
$13 million investment in the Department of Social Services to help strengthen the Government’s oversight of the NDIS.
