$153.1 million

Commits $153.1 million to establish a standalone First Nations National Plan and fund actions that align to emerging priorities of the developing dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Action Plan, including a First Nations Peak Body.

$7.7 million

Committed over 3 years for the establishment of the First Nations Peak Body to support a Standalone First Nations National Plan.

The First Nations National Plan will be a signature piece of policy that will guide a whole of society approach to addressing the unacceptable rates of violence against First Nations women and children.

$3.8 million

Provides $3.8 million to support a suitable organisation to curate, develop and distribute consent materials for young people on consent, with advice from a newly established expert advisory group.

$38.2 million

$38.2 million to extend to January 2025 the Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) trial and the Temporary Visa Holders Experiencing Violence Pilot (TVP) which helps reduce the financial insecurity individuals face when leaving a violent intimate partner relationship.

$4.1 million

$4.1 million over 2 years to engage a First Nations Secretariat to undertake consultation to support development of the standalone First Nations National Plan.

$2.4 million

$2.4 million to extend the national telephone service, MensLine to ensure men who want to maintain respectful relationships without using violence continue to have access to one-to-one telephone counselling regardless of their location.

Funding extension to national partnership on Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence responses

$159 million to extend the National Partnership on Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Responses with state and territory governments. This funding will continue to bolster frontline family, domestic and sexual violence supports to ensure women and children can access support when they need it.

  • 1 in 6 women (17% or 1.7 million)

Cohabiting Partner Emotional Abuse

  • 1 in 4 women (23% or 2.3 million)
  • 1 in 7 men (14% or 1.3 million)

Cohabiting Partner Economic Abuse

  • 1 in 6 women (16% or 1.6 million)
  • 1 in 13 men (7.8% or 745,000)
