Funding of $142.2 million over 5 years from 2023–24 will be provided to support the delivery of the National Redress Scheme (the Scheme), ensuring it continues to meet the needs of survivors.
- The investment will improve both the predictability of application processing timeframes and the quality and consistency of outcomes.
$80.1 million
Of this funding, $80.1 million will be dedicated to Redress Support Services which assists survivors to access Redress.
- This will ensure survivors feel confident that free independent support, delivered in a culturally-safe and trauma-informed way, will continue to be available to them.
Funding for improving survivor-focused Scheme
This Budget also supports the finalisation of the Government’s response to the Second Year Review of the Scheme (the Review).
- The final response will address all recommendations in the Review and supports positive, survivor-focussed improvements to the Scheme.
