  • Recognition of same-sex relationships
    The Government introduced wide-ranging reforms to ensure that same-sex de facto couples and their families are recognised and have the same entitlements as opposite-sex de facto couples.

    A suite of Find and Connect services and projects is being implemented through a phased approach to improve access to family tracing and support services for Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants.
  • Forced Adoption Practices
    The Department is the lead agency coordinating the Australian Government response to the recommendations of the Senate Community Affairs References Committee inquiry into past forced adoption policies and practices.
