New International Social Security Agreements


A new Social Security Agreement with Estonia was signed on 14 September 2015 but is not yet in force.

The Agreement covers:

  • For Australia: Age Pension; and
  • For Estonia: old-age and survivors’ pensions

The Agreement also contains provisions to avoid double coverage for temporarily seconded workers.

A revised Social Security Agreement with New Zealand was signed on 8 December 2016 in Wellington. It is expected to come into force in July 2017, subject to completion of all necessary treaty and legislative processes in both countries.
