Building Safe Communities for Women and their Children grants are designed to support communities to develop and implement practical solutions to reduce violence against women and their children in their own community; to help prevent this violence into the future; and to make a positive difference for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Building Safe Communities for Women and their Children grants can also be used to better understand the prevalence and impact of domestic violence in the community.

Building Safe Communities for Women and their Children is an Australian Government initiative under the COAG: National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022. It builds on the partnership between Australian governments and communities to reduce violence against women and their children.
