Disability counselling support
The Disability Royal Commission has delivered its final report on the violence, neglect, abuse and exploitation of people with disability.
The report is available on the Disability Royal Commission website in accessible formats.
If you have been affected by the Disability Royal Commission or its final report, counselling support is available until 31 December 2023. This support is available for people with disability, their families and carers.

What support is available?
Counselling support is available until 31 December 2023 for people with disability, their families and carers who have been impacted by the Disability Royal Commission or its final report.
A trauma-informed counsellor can support you to talk about your feelings and experiences in a safe space. You can do this over the phone or face-to-face.
Support is free, independent and confidential.
How to get support
Contact the National Counselling and Referral Service (NCRS) on 1800 421 468. The NCRS provides free, trauma-informed counselling support and can also assist you to connect to other services. You can call between 9am and 6pm weekdays, and from 9am to 5pm weekends and public holidays.
If it is hard for you to hear or speak, you can call the National Relay Service on 133 677.
If you need support in a language other than English, the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National can help. You can call:
- the NCRS on 1800 421 468 and ask for an interpreter
- TIS National on 131 450 and ask them to connect you to the NCRS.
If you are currently experiencing any form of violence or abuse, or you are concerned for your or someone else’s safety, call 000 immediately.

What support is there for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability?
Culturally appropriate support continues to be available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability and their families until 31 December 2023.
Indigenous-led support is available in some areas. To speak to a counsellor near you, select your state and territory.
You can also call the National Counselling and Referral Service for counselling support or ask them to connect you to a counsellor near you. Call 1800 421 468 (9am to 6pm weekdays, and 9am to 5pm weekends and national public holidays).
What support is there for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people with disability?
Counsellors can arrange translations and interpreting if you need help in another language.
If you need counselling support in another language, you can use the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National free of charge. You can call:
