New online services

The implementation of the new, national online services for carers has commenced.

In July 2019, new digital services for carers became available through the Australian Government’s Carer Gateway website.

The Carer Gateway website makes it easier for carers to find clear, useful information. You can explore the Carer Gateway website now.

The Implementation of the Carer Gateway model is an ongoing project for DSS. The Implementation Timeline shows the major activities and phases planned for the implementation of the Carer Gateway model.

Background to the ICSS

The following resources provide key information relating to past work relating to the implementation of the Integrated Carer Support Service.

Grant Opportunity

On 15 November 2018, the then Minister for Families and Social Services, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, and the then Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services, the Hon Sarah Henderson MP, announced the Carer Gateway regional delivery partners Grant Opportunity.

The Grant opportunity opened on 16 November 2018 and closed at 5.00pm (AEDT) on 14 February 2019.

On 21 August 2019, the Minister for Families and Social Services, the Hon Anne Ruston, announced the outcome of the Grant opportunity. The department has selected 10 organisations with the strongest claims and supporting evidence to become the new network of Carer Gateway service providers in 16 service areas across Australia.

Results of the Grant opportunity, are now available:

  • Grant opportunity outcomes: media release announcing the outcome of the Grant opportunity, including details of the 10 successful organisations who will help carers access new and improved local and targeted services under the Integrated Carer Support Service (ICSS) model.

Consultation

The department continues to consult with the sector and carers as the implementation of the new ICSS model progresses. Recent consultation activities include:

  • The department has brought together a group of sector subject matter experts to provide advice relating to operational aspects of the ICSS implementation. A list of the participants and summary of the group’s activities to date is available
  • The department continues to consult with a range of current carer support service providers and peak bodies.
