The purpose of this paper is to examine a range of social measures to provide an insight into the relative outcomes of communities in different parts of Australia. It is part of a project within the Department of Family and Community Services (FaCS) to develop a comprehensive database to support needs analysis.

Provides an insight into the social characteristics of regional Australia. More specifically, the paper considers the relative outcomes of different regions throught the use of a range of statistical indicators, identifying the extent to which systematic differences in outcomes occur.
