Number 46: Parental marital status and children’s wellbeing

This paper compares the wellbeing of children whose biological parents are married and those whose parents are cohabiting; it also looks at children in sole-mother families. The researchers from the Australian Institute of Family Studies used data from Waves 1 to 3 of Growing Up in Australia: the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC), a large-scale, nationally representative study of children and families.
