Stronger Families and Communities Strategy evaluation

The Stronger Families and Communities Strategy (SFCS) supports and provides funding for prevention and early intervention programs for families and communities, with emphasis on those at risk of social, economic and geographic isolation. The three key approaches are prevention, early intervention and capacity building, which aim to help families and communities address issues before they become serious problems, while taking advantage of emerging opportunities. In recognition that communities are often best-placed to identify and respond to their own local issues, project officers from the Australian Government Department of Family and Community Services (FaCS) work with communities to develop projects that are relevant to, and effective in, their local community context. The four community-based initiatives of the SFCS are:

  • Stronger Families Fund
  • Early Intervention Parenting and Family Relationship Support
  • Potential Leaders in Local Communities
  • Local Solutions to Local Problems.
