Short Description: Grants and Funding to encourage and support volunteers. 
 

Funding totalling more than $21 million announced under the Volunteer Grants 2009 initiative.

The Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, and the former Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector, Senator the Hon Ursula Stephens, recently announced that over 366,000 volunteers in more than 6,700 organisations across Australia will benefit from funding of more than $21 million under Volunteer Grants 2009.

Grants of up to $5,000 each will enable organisations to purchase practical and tangible small equipment items to assist their volunteers, and/or to contribute towards the reimbursement of fuel costs incurred by volunteers in their volunteering work.

Volunteers make a vital contribution to our local communities by donating their valuable time and skills to help others and the Australian Government is committed to supporting them in their important work.

Successful organisations are encouraged to check for more information about the funding process and documentation to ensure they receive funding as soon as possible.
