Borroloola Land Claim

This report presents the findings and recommendations of the Aboriginal Land Commissioner following an inquiry into the Borroloola Land Claim (Application No. 1), a traditional land claim application submitted by the Northern Land Council under section 50(1)(a) of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 on 27 July 1977.

The report was provided to the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and the Minister for the Northern Territory on 3 March 1978.

The land subject to claim was unalienated Crown land in the Borroloola region, including areas on the mainland and offshore islands.

This was the first report provided by an Aboriginal Land Commissioner under the Act and included a recommendation which relates to all of the land subject to the McArthur River Land Claim (Application No. 72), a traditional land claim application submitted by the Northern Land Council on 16 November 1983.
