Closing the Gap: Overarching Bilateral Indigenous Plans

Overarching Bilateral Indigenous Plans are to be agreed between the Commonwealth and each State and Territory, replacing previous Overarching Bilateral Indigenous Agreements.

The Plans will underpin cooperative work to realise the commitments and objectives made under the National Indigenous Reform Agreement, by:

  • incorporating implementation plans developed under all Indigenous-specific National Partnerships;
  • progressing implementation of the National Urban and Regional Service Delivery Strategy for Indigenous Australians;
  • clearly articulating activities that the Commonwealth, States and Territories will undertake to improve data required under the National Indigenous Reform Agreement; and
  • establishing bilateral governance mechanisms.

Once agreed, Plans can be viewed on the Ministerial Council for Federal Financial Arrangements website.
