Incentives for participating in income management

Apart from learning important budgeting and financial management skills, participants may be eligible for the following incentive payments:

Matched Savings Payment

A person who participates in the child protection measure, vulnerable measure or Parenting Participation measure of income management may receive a Matched Savings Payment from Centrelink of $500, paid directly into their income management account.

To be eligible, a person needs to complete an Approved Money Management Course and demonstrate a savings pattern of their non-income managed funds over a minimum of 13 weeks.

Voluntary Incentive Payment

A person who volunteers for income management will receive a $250 payment, paid directly into their income managed account, for every consecutive six months they participate.

Additional Support Services

People participating in income management are also able to access Financial Management Program services. People who are participating in income management will be offered a free and confidential referral to Financial Management Program services, for financial counselling and money management skills training.

In the Northern Territory, people who are on the Child Protection Measure of Income Management may be eligible for Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS).

In the five place-based income management sites Communities for Children services, part of the Australian Government’s Family Support Program, are also available to provide parenting and early childhood support.
