Organisation: Top End Association for Mental Health Inc.
Top End Association for Mental Health Inc. (TEAMhealth) has been delivering services to support people with mental illness in the Darwin and Palmerston communities since 1989. It was initially established to provide supported accommodation and has evolved over the last 18 years to provide a range of services including housing, outreach, sub-acute and aged care services for people with mental illness, ranging from high intensity to low intensity support.
TEAMhealth has established relationships with other service providers in the local community including Top End Mental Health Services (TEMHS - the Top End's clinical services provider). TEAMhealth and TEMHS have a share care relationship where TEMHS provides clinical services to people with mental illness and TEAMhealth provides non-clinical support. TEAMhealth also has strong relationships with GROW, which is a national and international self help support organisation for people with mental illness, and Carers NT which provides support to carers of people with disabilities including psychiatric disability. It has referral processes in place with the service providers available in the region.
TEAMhealth service delivery is recovery-focused, consumer-driven and inclusive of families, carers and friends. The organisation is experienced in providing support to Indigenous people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. It is also experienced in working in remote communities where isolation presents service delivery issues.
